Sat 27th October - Edinburgh University VI 1-1 Dunfermline Carnegie IV
The first half was pretty even with Edinburgh University having the bulk of the play but little penetration. We had less of the ball but more clear cut chances. Unfortunately for us their keeper had a couple of good saves and we had some ropey finishing. About a minute before half time we lost the ball just outside our D. The ball was moved quickly to the back post for a good slap finish for a 1 - 0 lead to EU.
The second half continued much like the first. Our defence was much tighter however with David Smith and Graeme Philips both putting in some good strong challenges. We lacked width and were trying to batter our way down through the middle of the pitch. We got a breakthrough when we managed to work the ball to the right, a good cross - and Jiggy was on hand to knock the ball past the keeper for an equaliser.
The last 10 minutes were pretty hectic and we had a couple of good chances to win the game. Unfortunately our forwards had a bad day at the office! Brilliant team effort, 110% from everybody. Thanks to Tubbs for umpiring and to the EU umpire who was exceptionally fair and sportsmanlike.
