Sat, 13th October - Hillhead III 8-1 Dunfermline Carnegie VI

Two reports for this one. First the captain, Barney Moorhead's version:

Sixths lost a very close game 8-1. Our scorer was Alan Green. Just as well they had 8 breakaway goals otherwise we might have had a really well deserved victory.

And now, Mike McInally's version of events:

A late start to Saturday saw the boys missing the second half of the Scotland versus Ukraine game. However, we were up to the task as always!

Half-time saw us going in at 3:0 down, although it could have been about 11:0. Whereas full-time, after an inspirational talk by captain Barney Moorehead, saw us heading in 8:1 down. That man Alan Green again! The lads put in a fighting display but a cup game like this was never going to be easy. Bring on the 'Plate'.

Man of the match: Richard Brown
Scorer: Alan Green

Sat, 6th October - Dunfermline Carnegie VI 2-2 Grange VII

A second game for Spud's men, this time the glorious captain was our figurehead. We were all over them for the first 15 minutes "this team are p--sh" stated our 'ringer' Chef (Don't actually recall saying that Mike. May have said that our sweeper was p-sh. Chef). However, his words betrayed the fact that the score was 1:0 to the chappies at the time. The defensive formation looked settled with Keith 'the rapper' Rapley playing much better at left back than he did as umpire and the forwards with Barney 'grandad' Moorehead and Alan 'no son of mine' Green running about like spring chickens.

Iron Mike missed a short corner but blamed it on Matt's push in - Mike had to run five yards to get the ball (never a good move with one leg). Alan Green scored a tremendous goal a few minutes later and Mike scored off the next short corner. Play was turning our way at last, but just before the half ended, Chris 'I don't take steroids honest' Shrive was muscled out of the way by a huge monster of a bullying centre forward - 2:2.

The team talk by Spud at half-time saw an inspired Jim Mitcheson and Michael (keep forgetting his second name) playing brilliantly down the right with Matt 'I only had two drinks at the beer festival' causing havoc down the left flank. The midfield dominated all the way through the half and the final score ended 2:2. "It should have been about 8:2 to us though" was quote from the  dynamic duo of Dave 'boy wonder' Sutton and Fraser 'batman' Johnstone.

Dougie in goal and Richard at right back were probably the men of the match.

Scorers: Alan Green, Mike McInally

Sat, 29th September - Inverleith Juniors 1-2 Dunfermline Carnegie VI

The first game of the season saw a magnificent game of flowing rugby (sorry hockey) at Currie High School. Poor Tom Hay must have felt a wee bit sorry for himself getting 'tackled' by Duncan, Michael and Matt in midfield every two minutes and then, if he managed to get past the House of Flying Sticks', saw Iron Mike approaching! This was a close game that we won 2:1, holding on to the lead at the death in spite of Keith trying to allow Inverleith back into the game (he was umpiring at the time). A few too many players as sub prevented the team really gelling as a unit but hopefully as things settle down in the next few games we can get a stable platform for the season.

Scorers: Graeme Paterson, Mike Roy

Man of the Match: Matt and Dougie shared the points equally.
